In a Nutshell
I got my degree in Art History in Mexico City, where I was born. I have taken numerous art classes and workshops in the US where I have lived for many decades. I have learned and continue doing so from many excellent artists.
The inspiration for my paintings comes from my native Mexico: its art and its crafts, from my travels, my surroundings and my memories .
I have tried several media throughout the years. I love pastels, I like their immediacy and color range. Acrylics for their brilliance and versatility, watercolors and inks to play .... I experiment with different papers, boards and canvases.
I do my own framing using new or recycled frames to keep the cost down. In some cases my husband John makes beautiful custom made frames for my paintings.
I do my own archival ink jet prints (Giclées). I use the best artist paper to make my reproductions really look like originals.
I have a studio and a small gallery to exhibit my paintings in Vicksburg, Michigan. I take pictures but I prefer to paint in my studio where I welcome visitors by appointment.
